Engrade Online Grading System

With out question grading under the new standardize cloud will go digital. In the future there might be a system that runs the gamete from national, state and district software. In my observations almost all the schools had some type of computerized attendance and/or grading system. What is nice about it is that administration, parents, department heads and students can make periodic checkups on a students grades without having to verbally track down the teacher. So the grading is more assessable this way. I like the simplicity of the engrade system it took no more than a few screens to enter all that was needed. So it does not put a time constraint on the teacher. I like the use of wiki's and flash cards and the online quizzes, very important if a student is going to be out for a extended period do to some illness. A nice feature is the ability to add different schools, such as if you taught for the same district but at two school locations ( middle school and high school). It gives you a permanent digital record that can be backed up online, so the threat of loosing one's grade book is eliminated. I know grade-keeper can use a i Pad which is a great portable way of taking a digital grade book into different environments, other classes or on a field trip. So if Engrade does not have that capability yet it could be added to its list of apps.

  1. Pat,
I never thought about the benefit to traveling teachers and this grade program. Good thinking! I also like that parents don't have to track me down for each quiz or test result. The only thing that I get nervous about is when I bump those grades up a little for the student who is 63 or so. It "mathematically" wouldn't be what I had posted- But I am sure they would not complain about increasing grades. Susan.
